Former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and current Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom Valeriy Zaluzhny stated that the war with Russia has entered a new phase — a competition not for territory, but for the destruction of the nation’s ability to resist.
This is reported by Ukrainska Pravda .
According to Zaluzhny, technologies such as artificial intelligence and drones are shaping a new doctrine of war, which is already being tested on the Ukrainian front. Winning this war is possible only by creating a “survival system” and asymmetric advantages.
The former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized the changing nature of modern warfare, particularly in the confrontation with Russia. He emphasized that the future is a war of attrition, which does not necessarily involve the seizure of territories, but focuses on undermining the ability of the enemy state to resist.
Zaluzhny pointed out that the development of artificial intelligence and autonomous systems will allow for powerful strikes with fewer resources. High-precision drones, cheaper than conventional shells and resistant to electronic warfare, will destroy both military facilities and critical enemy infrastructure.
For the first time in history, he believes, a person can be removed not only from control, but also from making decisions about hitting a target — everything will be entrusted to automated systems.
Zaluzhny predicts that “swarms of autonomous drones” will destroy not only troops, but also energy, logistics, and other foundations of the state’s functioning. This will lead to the strategic paralysis of the enemy.
The main emphasis will be on resource depletion, psychological pressure, and information attacks. At the same time, the front line will increasingly become an instrument of political and social pressure.
The only way to victory, according to Zaluzhny, is a technological rethinking of defense, the creation of asymmetric solutions, and a national system of “survivability.” Ukraine must develop a fundamentally new military doctrine capable of confronting new threats.
“This new war is already here. But we have shown that we are able to resist. Victory is possible if we act decisively and technologically,” Zaluzhny concluded.
By the way, the forecast of the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, about a possible ceasefire in 2025 will come true if the Kremlin sits down at the negotiating table, and this is possible only in the event of a stalemate on the front or a crisis scenario within the Russian Federation.
