Geomagnetic activity on Earth will increase in the coming days. Weak G1-level magnetic storms are possible on September 16 and 17, after which the situation should gradually stabilize.

This forecast was published by the British Geological Survey.

The reason for the changes in space weather will be the strengthening of the solar wind. According to experts, there is currently a coronal hole on the Sun, from which a more powerful stream of particles is moving towards the Earth. In addition, on September 13 and 14, two emissions of matter were recorded on the Sun, which can also affect the magnetic field of our planet.

The most turbulent situation may be on September 16–17 . During these days, isolated periods of a G1-level magnetic storm are possible. On September 18, activity should decrease, although some disturbances may still persist.

According to Meteoagent, on September 16 and 17, the geomagnetic activity index will be about 4.7, which corresponds to the yellow zone. On September 18, the index is predicted to decrease to 3.7 — the green zone.

The forecast for magnetic storms may change depending on further solar activity.
