The United States federal government has partially shut down despite the Senate approving a funding deal.

According to ABC News , the partial shutdown officially began at midnight ET on January 31. This came hours after senators agreed to extend funding for most agencies until September.

The shutdown is expected to be short-lived. The package of bills must be approved by the House of Representatives, which is in recess until Monday, February 2.

In addition, lower house lawmakers are expected to vote on it shortly after returning to Washington.

Recall that earlier in the United States, the likelihood of a partial government shutdown increased after a person died during an operation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Minneapolis . Democrats in the Senate announced their readiness to block the adoption of the budget due to demands for reform and restrictions on funding for the service.
