A picture for Trump: why talks in Geneva and Abu Dhabi are not stopping the war

Ukraine is being prepared for a major economic redistribution under the mysterious name of the “prosperity package.” Is the fate of our territories really being decided behind the scenes of negotiations in Geneva and Abu Dhabi, while US President Donald Trump is rushing to end the war by the US anniversary?
Well-known diplomat Valeriy Chaly, in an interview with “Pryamoy”, spoke about how the business interests of the American leader’s entourage can affect the future of Ukrainian borders and resources, why Crimea disappeared from the agenda, and who is actually negotiating on behalf of Ukraine.
Thus, according to the studio guest, the behind-the-scenes international consultations on the cessation of hostilities indicate a lack of real progress, because the Russian regime currently does not show a sincere desire to stop the aggression, and the Ukrainian leadership cannot surrender, which would mean the loss of territories without a fight.
“Maybe Trump is satisfied with what he wants to achieve, just a formal ceremony of signing an agreement or even initialing some kind of agreement. Of course, he will need a ceremony with the President of Ukraine, where he will show everyone that the war is over,” Chaly noted.
According to the diplomat, the current stage of the negotiations is more like an imitation of the process. Despite the statements of the American side about the possibility of ending the conflict by July 4, the factors of pressure on Russia through energy sanctions have not worked.
Ukraine has already exhausted the limit of promises at the delegation level, and any further concessions without a fight could lead to serious legal consequences for officials after the end of their term, Valeriy Chaly is convinced.
At the same time, the current format of negotiations between Ukraine and the United States, according to the diplomat, increasingly resembles the conclusion of commercial agreements, and the involvement of figures with business experience in the delegations changes the priorities of the discussions.
As a reminder, bilateral negotiations between Ukraine and the United States have concluded in Geneva. The parties are already preparing the next round, which may take place in a trilateral format with the participation of the Russian Federation. The negotiators are working on finalizing security parameters, economic solutions, and agreed positions that may become the basis for subsequent agreements.
The day before, Bloomberg, citing European and NATO officials, reported that the White House is pushing for a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine by July 4 , US Independence Day. However, according to Western officials, there is no indication that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is ready to conclude an agreement that does not meet his basic demands.
Meanwhile, analysts from the UK and Ireland have assessed the possible demands of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin to end the war against Ukraine. In their opinion, the Kremlin will not agree to peace without control over the entire strategic part of the Donetsk region, the absence of effective security guarantees for Ukraine, and a change of power in Kyiv.
Discussion of the initiative to hold talks in March in Abu Dhabi is accompanied by statements about the desire of US President Donald Trump to quickly end the war. However, one should not expect significant developments , given the Kremlin’s lack of real readiness for constructive action until their ultimatums are met, believes diplomat and former Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ogryzko.
