The plane carrying Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles experienced GPS issues while flying over Kaliningrad, Russia. The plane was en route to Lithuania.
El Mundo writes about this.
It is noted that Robles was flying an A330 aircraft to the Šiauliai airbase in Lithuania.
While flying over Kaliningrad, he “experienced attempts to disrupt his GPS,” the publication writes.
The pilot on board stated that this incident is quite common during commercial and military flights over Kaliningrad. It’s an attempt to disorient the pilots.
In the case of the military plane Robles was flying on, the attempt failed because the plane receives signals from a military satellite.
In addition to the minister, the plane also carried relatives of the VILKAS detachment personnel and journalists. The trip included a meeting with the Lithuanian Minister of Defense to strengthen cooperation with NATO and counter Russia’s actions.
