A powerful magnetic storm will hit Ukraine: how to survive a period of increased solar activity

In recent days, the Earth has been experiencing increased levels of geomagnetic activity, caused by powerful solar flares. Although the magnetic storms will temporarily subside on July 1, a new surge in activity is expected soon.

According to the Meteoagent portal, on July 2, the planetary K-index will again exceed 5, indicating the beginning of a strong magnetic storm.

A scale from 0 to 9 is used to assess geomagnetic activity, where a K-index above 5 indicates dangerous levels of magnetic storms. A “red” level of magnetic storm is expected in the coming days, which indicates increased danger. When solar emissions reach the Earth’s magnetosphere, they provoke intense geomagnetic oscillations.

Such storms can negatively affect people’s well-being, especially those who are sensitive to weather changes. The most common symptoms include headaches, fatigue, sleep disturbances, increased irritability, problems with concentration, increased blood pressure, or exacerbation of chronic diseases.

To mitigate the effects of magnetic storms on the body, it is recommended to follow a few simple tips. No special medical measures are required – it is enough to lead a moderate lifestyle.

Sleep and rest mode
Try to sleep at least 7-8 hours a day, preferably going to bed and waking up at the same time. Avoid overwork, get more rest. Relaxation practices will help: breathing exercises, yoga, meditation. Try to avoid stressful situations that can aggravate symptoms.

Nutrition and water regime
Drink enough water – about 1.5-2 liters per day – to maintain normal blood pressure and metabolism. Prefer light foods rich in potassium and magnesium, such as bananas, dried apricots, nuts, oatmeal and greens. Limit your intake of coffee, alcohol, fatty and salty foods.

Physical activity
Do light physical exercises and walk in the fresh air, especially in the morning. Avoid excessive exertion – your body needs rest now.

It is important to note that magnetic storm forecasts are subject to change, as solar activity researchers update their data every three hours. Therefore, we recommend that you regularly monitor changes.
