A pseudo-general was detained in Kyiv, who demanded $15,000 for “resolving” issues with the VLK
In Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a man who introduced himself as a major general and promised to help a serviceman pass the military service exam, register his unfitness for service, and go abroad.
This is reported by the Kyiv police.
He demanded $15,000 for his “services.” To make it more convincing, the man said that he was the head of internal security for a public organization and had connections among employees of the CCC, the State Border Guard Service, and other military formations.
The investigation established that the defendant offered the serviceman to completely “resolve the issue” – from passing a military medical commission to being removed from military registration and unhindered departure from Ukraine.
In addition, he issued fake ID cards for members of a public organization so that his “clients” could move freely around the city.
To appear authoritative, the man showed a photo in uniform and an ID card, where he allegedly stated that he was the head of internal security.
The police detained him immediately after receiving part of the agreed amount – $10,000.
During the searches, originals and copies of summons forms, applications for joining a public organization, draft records, money, military conscription documents, and other evidence of illegal activities were seized from him.
The man has already been reported as suspected under articles of illegal smuggling of persons across the state border and abuse of influence.
He faces up to nine years in prison with confiscation of property.
As previously reported, the National Police of Ukraine exposed members of a criminal organization who, according to investigators, are involved in laundering money from defense contracts and minimizing taxes.
As a reminder, law enforcement officers uncovered a large-scale corruption scheme at Ukrgazvydobuvannya, which caused losses to the state of over 295 million hryvnias.
