A Range Rover driver hit a border guard while attempting to smuggle six people onto the Romanian border.
The driver of a Range Rover SUV attempted to break through the fence at the Ukrainian-Romanian border to smuggle six people into Romania. While attempting to escape, he collided with a border guard, who sustained serious injuries. The victim underwent surgery, and his life is not yet in danger.
The State Tax Service of Ukraine reported this.
The patrol discovered a foreign-registered vehicle heading toward the border. The driver ignored a request to stop and made a dangerous maneuver toward border guards, attempting to overcome the fortifications and leave Ukraine.
During the maneuver, the instructor injured a State Border Service member, causing serious bodily harm. The border guard was hospitalized and underwent surgery.
Border guards and police subsequently discovered an abandoned Range Rover on the outskirts of a village. Six people in the vehicle were detained while attempting to breach the border. The search for the driver is ongoing.
Previously, the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police, dismantled three more schemes for illegal evasion of military conscription and detained four organizers of the deals in various regions of the country.
