Ukraine has contracted a record batch of 155 mm long-range artillery shells for the Defense Forces. Thanks to competition between manufacturers, the state managed to save billions of hryvnias and purchase even more ammunition for the front.
This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov.
According to him, six manufacturers participated in the procurement, with whom contracts for the supply of shells for the Ukrainian military have already been signed.
The Ministry of Defense stated that transparent conditions and competition allowed to reduce the cost of the purchase by 16%. Due to these savings, tens of thousands of additional ammunition were contracted for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Soon the enemy will feel this difference on himself,” Fedorov said.
The Ministry of Defense also announced the expansion of competitive procurement for FPV drones, mid-strike and deep-strike systems. Already in the summer, the department plans to more actively switch to tender procedures in defense procurement.
According to Fedorov, the new system should make the supply of weapons to the front faster, more efficient, and more transparent.
In addition, large orders are planned to be distributed among several manufacturers to reduce dependence on a single supplier and speed up deliveries to the army.
