A Russian drone attacked a Kyiv-Sumy train carrying passengers.
On the morning of March 8, Russian troops used a drone to attack a Kyiv-Sumy passenger train carrying approximately 200 people. There were no initial injuries.
The Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported this in a commentary for Public Sumy .
According to law enforcement, the Russians struck at around 5:30 a.m. The train was traveling from Kyiv to Sumy .
A Lancet -class attack drone was used in the initial attack. The strike damaged the diesel engine.
Train service was temporarily suspended to allow the locomotive to be replaced. Passengers were then transported to the final station by another locomotive.
The Ukrzaliznytsia press service clarified that no passengers or railway workers were injured in the attack. They also noted that no changes to the train schedule on this route are planned.
As reported on March 2, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine and Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba announced a Russian attack on a civilian Ukrzaliznytsia commuter train in the Kryvyi Rih district of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The attack killed one person and injured seven others.
