A Russian general’s car was blown up in Moscow: The Investigative Committee announced his death.

On the morning of December 22, a Kia Sorento exploded in a parking lot in Moscow’s Orekhovo-Borisovo district. According to preliminary reports, an improvised explosive device detonated inside the car.

According to Russian Telegram channels Baza and Shot, the explosion occurred just as the 56-year-old driver got into the car.

The man suffered a concussion, multiple fragmentation wounds, and fractures and was hospitalized in serious condition. The explosion damaged the front of the car and several nearby parked vehicles.

Subsequently, the VChK-OGPU Telegram channel claimed that the victim was 56-year-old Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, head of the Operational Training Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces. Sarvarov’s asset declarations indeed indicate that he owns a Kia. The “Book of Executioners” project also claims that Sarvarov was directly involved in Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The Russian Investigative Committee later reported that Sarvarov died from his injuries. The Investigative Committee’s Main Investigative Directorate in Moscow opened a criminal investigation into murder committed in a generally dangerous manner and the illegal handling of explosives.

Among the main theories Russian investigators are considering is the alleged “involvement of Ukrainian special services” in organizing the explosion.
