A Russian lieutenant colonel’s car was blown up in St. Petersburg: he died

A car carrying a Russian military officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel and his wife exploded in St. Petersburg on the morning of August 27. The man died on the spot, while the woman was hospitalized in serious condition.

This is reported by Russian media.

The explosion occurred at around 10:00 in the Slovianka neighborhood on Kolpynskoye Highway. According to preliminary information, an improvised explosive device went off inside a car.

The explosion killed the serviceman. His wife was seriously injured and taken to intensive care. Russian media reports that the couple’s legs could have been amputated.

According to media reports, the deceased served in a unit of the Russian Air Force and Air Defense. His identity and exact position are not officially disclosed at this time.

Emergency services and investigators are working at the scene of the explosion. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has launched an investigation and announced that necessary examinations will be carried out.

Ukrainian blogger and volunteer Serhiy Sternenko stated that the deceased was a Russian Aerospace Forces pilot. However, there is currently no independent confirmation of this information.
