A Russian submarine with Calibers surfaced off the coast of France: NATO’s reaction

The Russian submarine B-261 “Novorossiysk” surfaced near the French coast. According to preliminary data, this could have happened due to a technical malfunction.
This was reported by the NATO Naval Forces Command.
A French Navy frigate was monitoring the Alliance’s naval approaches and detected the presence of a Russian submarine.
NATO noted that the situation is under control.
“NATO stands ready to defend our Alliance by constantly monitoring the maritime situation and focusing on maritime situational awareness across the Atlantic,” the command said.
B-261 “Novorossiysk” is part of the 4th separate submarine brigade of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The submarine is equipped with six torpedo tubes and is capable of carrying 18 torpedoes.
In addition, the boat can launch Kalibr cruise missiles and has up to four such missiles on board.
It was previously reported that the Russian vessel Yantar had been conducting long-term operations to monitor underwater infrastructure in the waters of Great Britain and Northern Europe . The ship was used to detect and access critical underwater cables, and also had technical means to intercept traffic and possibly damage the lines.
