A series of powerful explosions and a fire at a refinery: Saratov came under attack by drones

On the night of November 11, powerful explosions thundered over the Russian cities of Saratov and Engels. Local sources report that air defense systems were previously detected in the region, and a fire broke out in the city on the territory of the Saratov oil refinery.

Russian media and local Telegram channels are reporting on the attacks.

According to eyewitnesses, after 1 a.m. about five to seven explosions were heard in the sky. Residents noted that unknown objects were flying over the cities, and bright flashes were visible from the southwest of Saratov. Civil defense sirens were turned on in the city – people were urged to stay away from windows and move to safe places through loudspeakers.

There are currently no official reports on the extent of the damage or possible casualties.

Earlier, the head of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, warned about the danger of drone attacks. Russia’s Rosaviatsia also temporarily restricted the operation of the local airport due to the threat of air strikes.

As a reminder, on the night of November 3 , units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck the Saratov Oil Refinery and a number of logistics facilities in the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk Oblast.

As reported, on the night of October 16, a series of explosions took place in Russian-controlled territory – residents of Saratov report hearing the sounds of explosions in the city . In response, Rosaviatsia announced a temporary suspension of air traffic at the airports of Saratov and Samara.
