A sharp surge in solar activity: meteorologists warned of a magnetic storm

A powerful magnetic storm is expected on Saturday, August 9, which may negatively affect people’s well-being and the operation of technical systems. The geomagnetic disturbance will last for two consecutive days — August 8 and 9.
This is evidenced by data from the monitoring resource Meteoagent.
On Friday, the level of geomagnetic activity will reach Kr 6, which corresponds to the “red” danger level. On Saturday, August 9, the storm will weaken slightly to Kr 5, but will still remain dangerous for weather-sensitive people.
According to the K-index classification, levels from Kp 5 and above are considered magnetic storms, which can cause:
headache,
blood pressure spikes,
sleep disorders,
increased anxiety.
People with cardiovascular diseases, chronic illnesses, and those who are sensitive to weather changes should be especially careful.
What experts recommend:
ensure a full night’s sleep;
avoid stress and physical overload;
drink enough water and eat a balanced diet;
