Cabinet of Ministers Advances Veterans’ Support: Key Decisions Adopted on August 22.
This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
According to Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, the meeting approved a bill on the foundations of state veterans’ policy. The legislation provides for the recognition of veteran status and that of their families, as well as guarantees support in medical, educational, social, and legal spheres.
“Veteran spaces, state-funded services, and the perpetuation of the memory of the fallen are planned. All existing benefits and documents remain valid,” the Prime Minister explained.
Government officials also supported a bill concerning individuals who defended Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Svyrydenko expects that the adoption of these draft laws, as part of the Code of Laws on Defenders of Ukraine, will take place in the fall of 2025.
Additionally, the government approved the launch of an adaptation program for veterans who have lost their sight, facilitating access to rehabilitation equipment such as wheelchairs, white canes, and other specialized devices.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that foreigners who fought or are fighting on the side of Ukraine will receive the right to free dental care.
Separately, a decision was made to provide state compensation covering 50% of civilian vehicle costs for veterans and people with disabilities as a result of the war.
“I am pleased to see the coordinated work of the ministries, ensuring that every veteran has the opportunity to recover and realize their potential,” the Prime Minister concluded.
Previously, a new section appeared in the state mobile application “Diya”, which combined all the services necessary for veterans.
