A Ukrainian died during an illegal border crossing in the Odessa region: details of the incident
A tragic incident occurred on the border of the Odessa region: a citizen of Ukraine died while attempting to illegally cross the state border.
This was reported by the Southern Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
According to official data, the border guard unit detected a group of unknown persons heading towards the state border. They did not respond to lawful demands to stop. In this regard, the border guards fired warning shots.
As a result of the pursuit, one person was detained while overcoming an engineering barrier. Another man was later found by border guards with no signs of life – he had a bullet wound.
Law enforcement agencies were immediately notified of the incident. Officers from the National Police and the State Bureau of Investigation arrived at the scene and began investigating to determine all the circumstances of the death.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that a parallel internal investigation has been ordered. The actions of the border guards are currently being reviewed, and the agency is providing all necessary assistance to investigators.
The situation is under the control of law enforcement agencies, and final conclusions regarding the causes and details of the incident will be made after the investigation is completed.
By the way, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is initiating amendments to the Criminal Code, which proposeestablishing criminal liability for violation of the established terms of stay outside the country by military conscripts.
It was previously reported that employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed a pre-trial investigation into a law enforcement officer from Chernivtsi region, who is suspected of organizing the illegal transfer of military conscripts across the state border . The indictment has already been sent to the court.
