A veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Alexander, claimed he was beaten by soldiers at the Kharkiv territorial recruitment center. Police have opened a pre-trial investigation into the incident.
The local publication Mediaport reports this, and the Kharkiv region police informed us of this.
According to Alexander, on the morning of January 7, he witnessed unknown individuals forcibly dragging a man into a minibus in the middle of the road. The veteran stopped and tried to find out what was going on, after which a verbal argument broke out between him and the soldiers, which escalated into a fight. He claims he was thrown to the ground, beaten, and that money disappeared from his bag.
Subsequently, according to the veteran, he and his wife went to the shopping center to speak with management. There, Alexander says, the conflict repeated itself: he was beaten again, his wife’s arm was injured, and her phone was taken away. Doctors diagnosed him with a concussion and bruises.
The couple filed a report with the police and plan to file a complaint with the State Bureau of Investigation.
Meanwhile, Elena Rodina, press secretary for the Kharkiv Trade and Commerce Center and Service, stated that a man allegedly blocked the entrance to the Novobavarsky Trade and Commerce Center and threatened military personnel in his car. According to her, it was the Trade and Commerce Center employees who called the police, and the man was detained for clarification. The Trade and Commerce Center also stated that they do not confirm his status as a combatant.
Kharkiv Oblast police reported that they have opened a case under Article 125 of the Criminal Code—intentional minor bodily injury. The penalty under this article includes a fine, community service, or correctional labor.
Oleksandr served in the Ukrainian Armed Forces since 2022 in artillery reconnaissance, working with electronic warfare and drones. In 2025, he was discharged from service due to a third-degree disability due to the progression of a musculoskeletal disorder.
As a reminder, the Odessa Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TRCS&SS) has launched an internal investigation into an incident involving an attempt to mobilize a marine released from captivity.
Incidentally,a serviceman from the regional territorial center for recruitment and social support was detained in Zaporizhzhia on suspicion of premeditated murder.
