A woman who fought on the Russian side for over two years was detained in Volyn.

A 50-year-old Donetsk native was detained in Volyn. She served in the Russian army for over two years and participated in combat operations in Kherson Oblast and Donbas. After leaving the service, she came to Kovel to renew her Ukrainian documents and leave for Germany.

The Office of the Prosecutor General reported this.

Before the full-scale invasion, the woman worked as a nurse in a psychiatric hospital. In February 2022, she voluntarily joined the Russian army and, until August 2024, carried out orders from her command and fought against Ukraine.

In October 2026, she was detained in a hotel in Kovel. During the search, her Russian passports and military documents, a military ID card from the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), a combat veteran’s ID card, a Russian bank card, and Russian and Belarusian currency were seized.

The woman was informed of suspicion of treason under martial law. The court ordered her to be held in custody without bail.
