Abnormal heat will linger in Ukraine: when to expect a cooling

Abnormally warm weather in Ukraine will help save energy and postpone the start of the heating season. By the end of the week, daytime temperatures will reach +18 degrees, while nighttime temperatures will remain mostly within +7…+12 degrees.

This was reported by Cherkasy weather forecaster Vitaliy Postryhan on his Facebook page.

According to him, Ukraine is under the influence of warm air masses from the Mediterranean and the Balkans. Arctic air has not yet reached the country, so a sharp cooling is not expected in the coming days.

“The episode of gray foggy dampness is over,” said Postrygan. The weather will be determined by the anticyclone Gerhard, which will bring more sun and preserve the almost September warmth.

At the same time, on October 20, atmospheric fronts from the south will bring rain to the Right Bank and southern Ukraine. During the day, the air temperature will be +14…+19 degrees. No significant precipitation is forecast in the future.

Last weekend also turned out to be unusually warm: the average daily temperature was +12…+14 degrees. This is at least 5 degrees above the climatic norm and corresponds to the indicators typical for the second half of September.

According to the forecast of the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, moderate rains are expected in the Kyiv region on October 20, and light rain is possible in places on October 21. No precipitation is forecast from October 22 to 24.

In Kyiv at night it will be +9…+11 degrees, during the day — +15…+17. In the Kyiv region, the night temperature will be +6…+11 degrees, during the day — +13…+18.
