Abnormally difficult weather conditions in Ukraine have complicated rail transport. Passenger train delays are being recorded on some routes.
This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia.
According to the company, fallen trees damaged overhead lines, communication and signaling systems at at least ten locations across the country. Reserve locomotives were brought in to ensure traffic, and traffic control via telephone was temporarily introduced on ten routes.
A separate incident occurred with train No. 127/128 on the Zaporizhzhia-Lviv route: one of the fallen trees hit a passenger car. At the same time, Ukrzaliznytsia assured that no passengers were injured and the car itself was not damaged.
The most tense situation is currently observed in the Odessa region. Due to solid ice, power lines have frozen, and specialized equipment is working on the site.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the following flights currently have the largest deviations from the schedule:
No. 38 Odesa — Uzhhorod (+7 hours 50 minutes);
No. 78 Odesa — Kovel (+6 hours);
No. 166 Odesa — Chernivtsi (+5 hours 55 minutes);
No. 12 Odesa — Lviv (+5 hours 38 minutes);
No. 106 Odesa — Kyiv (+5 hours 7 minutes).
The company publishes up-to-date information about train delays on the uz-vezemo service. At the same time, Ukrzaliznytsia emphasizes that despite difficult weather conditions, all trains continue to operate.
As a reminder, Ukrzaliznytsia changed the train schedule, including suburban trains, across Ukraine from January 22. The revision of the schedules should reduce delays on congested sections and take into account safety restrictions.
