Accession by 2027 is impossible: the European Commissioner named the conditions for Ukraine’s accession to the EU

EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Cos stated that despite the fact that Ukraine is an important partner of the European Union, accession to the bloc by 2027 is impossible.

This was reported by Politico.

“Everyone in this room knows that Ukraine cannot become a member of the EU on January 1, 2027,” Kos said.

The European official explained: in order for Ukraine to be accepted into the EU, it is necessary to achieve peace and implement reforms.

“First you need peace — that’s important — then you have to implement reforms… investors will come, as you know, and in Ukraine, only when they can make money and if their investments are safe,” the commissioner added.

At the same time, according to her, Ukraine is a key partner of the European Union in the field of innovation, defense and other strategic sectors that can help increase global competitiveness.

Previously, the Ukrainian delegation in Brussels received from the European Union the conditions for accession under the three final negotiation clusters.

As a reminder, Deputy Prime Minister for EU and NATO Accession Taras Kachka stated that some European Union countries are suggesting that Ukraine wait 10-20 years before joining the EU.
