A number of public organizations called on the Verkhovna Rada to terminate the activities of the temporary investigative commission investigating corruption in law enforcement agencies, courts, and judicial authorities.
This is stated on the website of the DEJURE Foundation.
As noted, the TSC, headed by People’s Deputies Serhiy Vlasenko and Maksym Buzhansky, threatens the independence of Ukrainian anti-corruption structures and judicial governance bodies.
Among the violations, activists highlighted the inspection of the activities of the Supreme Judicial Council, the Supreme Judicial Council, and the Supreme Judicial Council, an attempt to use the pretext against the Supreme Judicial Council member Serhiy Chumak, despite the ban, and the creation of an expert group not provided for by law, whose members do not bear personal responsibility for knowingly false conclusions.
In particular, the NABU, SAPO, HCJ, the High Council of Justice (HCJ), the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine (HQCJ), and the Public Integrity Council declared abuse of power and the use of the TSK as a tool of pressure.
Moreover, it is emphasized that in the 2025 report, the European Commission noted: the TSC “should not undermine public trust in anti-corruption institutions through unjustified public statements and going beyond the limits set by the principle of separation of powers.”
In addition, the VRU Rules Committee pointed out violations of the requirements for the report on the activities of the temporary investigative commission: there is no deadline for the next report, there is no information about voting on each established circumstance, and the report does not contain proposals.
“The actions of the people’s deputies in the TSC discredit parliamentary control, have nothing to do with the real fight against corruption and create risks for the fulfillment of Ukraine’s obligations to the EU. In view of these facts, we demand from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: to immediately include in the agenda of the nearest plenary session of the VRU the issue of hearing the report, conclusions and proposals of the TSC; based on the results of considering the TSC report, to make a decision to terminate the powers of the TSC,” the activists said in a statement.
