Reuters reports this with reference to a letter in the agency’s possession.
The document dated June 26 does not specify specific recipients. Fedorov notes that in 2026, Ukraine’s total defense needs will amount to about 136 billion euros. At the same time, the state will be able to cover approximately 53 billion euros of this amount on its own.
It is also noted that Ukraine should receive 28.3 billion euros for defense within the framework of financial assistance from the EU in the amount of 90 billion euros.
At the same time, the minister emphasized that some defense needs still remain unmet.
He emphasized that funds from the European Peace Fund could become “one of the most significant European contributions to Ukraine’s defense this year, but only on condition that these resources are directed to where they can have the greatest and fastest military effect.”
It was previously reported that Ukraine received another tranche of financial assistance from the European Union – 1 billion euros under the ERA Loan program.
The EU also disbursed the first tranche of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of €3.2 billion . The funds are part of a large-scale €90 billion package that the European Union plans to provide to Ukraine over the next two years.
