After a tough conversation with government officials, IDP pensions and social payments were unblocked – Gerashchenko
Pensions for IDPs and social payments have been unblocked, Iryna Gerashchenko, co-chair of the European Solidarity faction, announced after a tough conversation within the conciliation council with relevant government officials.
“Today, at the request of the opposition factions, “European Solidarity”, Vice Speaker Olena Kondratyuk, as part of the conciliation, had a tough conversation with the Minister of Social Policy Denys Ulyutin and the head of the Pension Fund regarding the blatant situation, something has developed with the payment of pensions to IDPs. The government, by its resolution, forced all IDPs to be verified in order to avoid abuses and receiving pensions from the Russian Federation (although it is obvious that from the occupied territories through a video conference some citizens may provide false information about themselves),” Gerashchenko noted.
“And the government also transferred the administration of payments from social workers to the Ministry of Social Affairs vertical — to the Pension Fund, which simply does not have enough people and qualifications to process such an array of papers! As a result, more than 300 thousand pensioners were left without payments in January, and mothers of young children and large families also have problems with payments,” the deputy reminded.
“We are all for verification, against abuses, and realize the importance of putting payments in order. But why create new problems for the most disadvantaged categories of the population! What kind of verification is there in “Diya” when many pensioners have push-button phones! And it is very difficult for bedridden, elderly people to come in person, plus it is hell in the Pension Fund branches now,” she stated.
“All these questions were raised with the government today by Nina Yuzhanina and other colleagues. We have the result – pensions have been unblocked,” said Gerashchenko.
According to the co-chair of Eurosolidarity, until today, payment was suspended by Resolution No. 299:
- disability pensions;
- pensions in connection with the loss of a breadwinner (including for children of deceased servicemen);
- old-age pensions;
- retirement pensions;
- insurance payments under insurance against accidents at work and occupational diseases;
- monthly lifetime maintenance.
“Thanks to the prompt response of the Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets and the opposition, these payments have now been unblocked. Our team will strengthen parliamentary control over the government’s activities, we see that it is yielding results,” noted Iryna Gerashchenko.
