The Security Service of Ukraine, with the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, exposed a Russian informant among the military personnel. He turned out to be a mobilized soldier from the Poltava region, who was transmitting data to the Russian Federation for strikes on the positions of his assault regiment and neighboring units of the Defense Forces.

This was reported to the SBU.

Russian intelligence services were particularly interested in the coordinates of the locations where the largest number of Ukrainian military and equipment were located. They were also interested in the training grounds where the man was training.

According to the SBU, the serviceman came to the attention of Russian special services after he voluntarily left the military unit and began looking for work in thematic Telegram channels. That’s where he was recruited.

After that, the man was instructed to return to his unit and collect information that could help the Russian Federation adjust its strikes.

Investigators documented how the informant gave the Russians the coordinates of the temporary deployment point of the battalion where he served. After that, he left the military unit again, saying that he was going to the hospital. In fact, the soldier went to Kremenchuk and hid there.

The SBU managed to secure the positions of the Ukrainian military, who were in the zone of enemy reconnaissance activity, and then detained the man.

During the search, the phone he used to communicate with the Russian intelligence officer was seized. To hide his activities, the informant used an anonymous chat and regularly deleted correspondence.

The detainee was informed of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law — under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The man is being held without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
