President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in Davos that a key agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine is ready and awaiting signing. According to him, the document is a basic agreement, after which technical and procedural steps for implementation will remain.
He said this while talking to journalists.
The President noted that he made the relevant statement following a meeting with US President Donald Trump during the World Economic Forum in Davos. According to the Head of State, the negotiations were productive and meaningful.
Zelenskyy said that during the meeting, the main attention was paid to the issues of strengthening air defense and security guarantees for Ukraine. He emphasized that the agreement in this regard has already been prepared.
“We really had a positive meeting with President Trump, with his team. First of all, I raised the issue of air defense. The second thing is our security guarantees, they are really ready and the agreement is ready for signing,” the president said.
The Head of State emphasized that the document is of key importance, and after its signing, the parties will move on to technical and procedural issues related to the practical implementation of the agreements.
“Of course, there will be many more different technical details based on this document, additional documents will appear, but the main main agreement on security guarantees is there. Now I am waiting for the date and place from President Trump,” Zelenskyy said.
The president also reported that documents related to the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine and the so-called “Prosperity Package” were discussed during the meeting.
“We have considered a whole package of documents. They are not yet completed, but we see prospects and hope for a positive result,” Zelenskyy added.
Separately, US President Donald Trump told reporters that during the meeting in Davos, Zelensky expressed his willingness to reach a peace agreement.
“He came and said he wanted to make a deal,” Trump said.
