“Aid is on the way”: the EU announced an aid package to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen condemned the massive Russian attack on Ukraine and announced new assistance to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses. She stressed that the European Union’s support for Ukraine continues.

The President of the European Commission said that Russia’s large-scale attack on Ukraine demonstrates “the Kremlin’s cruelty and its contempt for both human life and peace negotiations.”
According to von der Leyen, terror against civilians is not a display of strength, but a demonstration of desperation.
“We strongly support Ukraine, assistance is already on the way to strengthen its air defense systems,” said Ursula von der Leyen.
Also, the head of European diplomacy, Kaia Kallas, stated that Russia’s strike with the Oreshnik missile on Ukraine is a dangerous step that increases the risks of nuclear escalation.
“These are heinous terrorist acts aimed at killing as many civilians as possible,” Kallas stressed.
She also commented on the information about the use of “Oreshnik”.
“Reports that Moscow is using Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missiles — systems designed to carry nuclear warheads — are a political scare tactic and a reckless risk of nuclear war,” Kallas said.
According to her, the European Union should increase international pressure on Russia in response to a new wave of massive attacks on Ukraine.
As is known, on the night of May 24, Russian troops carried out a large-scale combined attack on Ukraine , using missiles and kamikaze drones. Kyiv suffered the greatest destruction – damage and fires were recorded in all districts of the capital.
By the way, three garages were damaged as a result of the Russian strike with an Oreshnik missile on Bila Tserkva in the Kyiv region.
