Air conditioning in the heat: how to use it properly and stay cool in the summer
Energy experts have urged consumers to use air conditioners rationally during hot weather. This will help reduce the load on the power grid and maintain stable operation of the power system.
This was reported by “Mykolaivoblenergo”.
The company explained that on hot days, due to the simultaneous operation of a large number of air conditioners, the load on the power grid increases significantly. To use electricity more efficiently, consumers are recommended to follow a few simple rules.
In particular, they advise:
- set the air conditioner temperature at 24–26 °C instead of 16–18 °C;
- do not turn on the air conditioner and several powerful electrical appliances at the same time, including a washing machine, dishwasher, or electric oven;
- postpone energy-intensive tasks to daytime hours from 10:00 to 16:00;
- close windows, doors and curtains to keep the room cool longer;
- Clean the air conditioner filters regularly for efficient operation.
The company emphasized that even a slight reduction in load by each consumer during peak consumption hours helps the power system operate more stably.
It was previously reported that the first days of August will be the hottest period of this summer in Ukraine . In the near future, a dry subtropical air mass will dominate the country, due to which the air temperature will significantly exceed the climatic norm.
