Air quality worsened in Kyiv after Russia’s combined strike

Air quality in Kyiv has significantly deteriorated after a nighttime combined missile and drone attack by Russian forces. The cause was large-scale fires caused by enemy shelling.
This is evidenced by data from interactive air quality monitoring services SaveEcoBot and AQICN .
According to the services, increased pollution levels have been recorded in all areas of the capital. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in many locations has reached orange and red levels, indicating harmful concentrations of pollutants.
The worst situation is observed in the Obolonsky and Svyatoshynsky districts, where AQI indicators range from 140 to 174 units with a recommended norm of 50. High levels of pollution are also recorded in the Darnytsky, Dniprovsky, and Solomyansky districts.
Residents of the capital are recommended to stay indoors if possible, close windows tightly, limit outdoor exposure, and use air purifiers if available.
It was previously reported that on the night of August 5, Russian forces carried out a combined missile and drone attack on Kyiv. The strike killed one person, injured 24 others, and caused fires and destruction in several areas of the capital.
