Explosions were heard in Tyumen, Russia, on June 20, followed by smoke seen over the area of a local oil refinery. Russian authorities announced a drone attack and imposed flight restrictions in the region.

The first reports of explosions in Tyumen appeared after 1:40 p.m. Kyiv time. Videos were posted online showing smoke in the area of the Tyumen oil refinery.

Tyumen Region Governor Alexander Moor announced that a drone attack on the enterprise had been repelled. According to him, emergency services are working at the site of the “falling debris.”

“According to preliminary information, the plant was not damaged, the employees were evacuated. I am keeping the situation under personal control,” said Oleksandr Moor.

Local residents reported at least two explosions and at least 10 fire engines heading towards the refinery. A no-fly zone was declared in the region, and Tyumen airport temporarily suspended all flights. Several flights were also delayed.

OSINT analysts reported that smoke was recorded above the Tyumen Oil Refinery. They made this conclusion after analyzing an eyewitness video filmed near the Antipino Microdistrict public transport stop. Russian users on social media also reported a strike on the enterprise.

Tyumen Oil Refinery is one of the largest independent oil refineries in Russia. It is located approximately 2,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border in the Luhansk region. The company’s main products are Euro-5 diesel fuel, stable gas gasoline, petroleum coke, bitumen, and fuel oil.

Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on the results of strikes by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on military facilities of the Russian aggressor on June 18 and on the night of June 19, 2026. Among the targets hit were railway bridges in the temporarily occupied Crimea, military infrastructure, and the Moscow Oil Refinery.

As reported, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck two fuel facilities in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation on the night of June 18. After the attack, fires broke out at the oil depot and the fuel and lubricants depot.
