Amid the worsening situation in the Middle East, the cost of diesel fuel in Ukraine has increased and may eventually reach almost 90 hryvnias per liter.

This was reported by fuel market expert Serhiy Kuyun.

According to him, recently the price of diesel fuel has increased by 18%, or almost 30 hryvnias per liter.

Kuyun explained that long-term contracts are not concluded at fixed prices, but at formed ones that take into account data from the stock exchange and quotation agencies.

Currently, the cost of diesel fuel at the border is 80 UAH/liter, however, the price does not include taxes, transportation costs, etc. Therefore, diesel fuel at gas stations can cost another 8-9 UAH more.

“In 2022, VAT was reduced from 20% to 7%. Today, a similar step would suppress prices by 10 UAH/l,” the expert recalled.

As a reminder, as of March 5 , diesel fuel became the most expensive at Ukrainian gas stations , while gasoline and autogas also increased in price.

It was previously reported that prices at popular gas stations increased by an average of 2 hryvnias per liter, however, in some places the price increased by 3 hryvnias.

As reported, market operators explain this by news about problems with oil supplies from the Persian Gulf region.
