The Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting an offensive in the south and have already liberated almost the entire Dnipropetrovsk region.

This was stated by the head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff, Major General Oleksandr Komarenko, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

“More than 400 square kilometers of our territory have already been liberated. On a slightly smaller area, the rear area has been cleared of the enemy. It remains to finalize three small settlements and clear two more,” Komarenko said.

He added that thanks to the successes in February, more territory was liberated than was lost.

According to the general, the offensive operation was planned and coordinated and is being carried out by airborne assault units and assault troops with the support of mechanized brigades defending in this direction.

Komarenko noted that the situation on the front is “complicated, but controlled.” The Pokrovsky and Oleksandrivsky directions remain the most difficult, where the enemy has concentrated its main forces.

“But we are gradually leveling the situation thanks to our active actions. The number of enemy attacks in the Pokrovska and Myrnograd areas has decreased somewhat due to its refocusing on the Oleksandrivska direction,” the general added.

He also noted that during the spring campaign, the Pokrovsky, Oleksandrivsky, and Zaporizhia directions remain priorities for Russia.

“The enemy seeks complete control over the Luhansk and Donetsk regions and maximum advancement in Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions,” Komarenko explained.

As a reminder, Russian occupation troops are trying to create a 20-kilometer “buffer zone” along the border in Sumy and Kharkiv regions, capturing border villages.

As reported, over the past 24 hours, 130 combat clashes were recorded on the front . The occupiers actively used missiles, aircraft, kamikaze drones and artillery, striking Ukrainian military positions and settlements in several regions. At the same time, Ukrainian defenders hit a number of important enemy targets, including areas of concentration of equipment and drone control points.
