American alternative to G7: White House proposes creating new political group with Russia

The White House is considering the possibility of creating a political group with Russia — the C5, which would become an alternative to the G7.

This was reported by the Defense One publication.

In particular, it is noted that in the summer, US President Donald Trump “mourned” the exclusion of Russia from the G7 as a “big mistake.”

Therefore, the US national strategy, released by the White House last week, proposes the creation of a political group called the “Core Five.”

It will not be limited by the G7’s demands that member countries be both wealthy and democratic.

The five potential participants include the United States, Russia, China, India and Japan. Under the Trump administration’s plan, the countries would meet in summits to discuss specific topics, similar to the G7.

A possible agenda for the C5 is security in the Middle East — normalizing relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
