An attempt on Andriy Yusov was being prepared: another suspect was detained
Law enforcement officers have detained another person involved in the case of preparing an assassination attempt on the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and Deputy Head of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, Andriy Yusov. This is a 34-year-old former serviceman, whom the investigation considers to be an intermediary between the customer and the potential perpetrator of the crime.
This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the investigation, in early 2026, an unidentified person approached the suspect and offered to find someone to kill a representative of the State Security Service. They allegedly promised a reward of $100,000 for the crime.
“Law enforcement officers have established the role of a 34-year-old former military serviceman, who was an intermediary between the customer and the potential perpetrator of the crime,” the Prosecutor General’s Office noted.
Investigators believe that in early 2026, an unidentified person approached the suspect and offered to find someone to kill a GUR representative. They allegedly promised $100,000 for the crime.
After that, the man began looking for a perpetrator. In Kyiv, he met with his acquaintance, suggested that he join the crime, and gave him the customer’s contacts for direct communication.
The prosecutor’s office says that for several months the suspect tried to convince an acquaintance to agree to the murder.
“From February to June 1, 2026, the intermediary systematically incited him to commit murder through persuasion,” the report says.
The intermediary was detained on June 18. The next day, the court remanded him in custody. He was charged with inciting the preparation of a premeditated murder for selfish motives.
As reported, law enforcement officers of the National Police exposed and detaineda Russian agent who was preparing to assassinate an official of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The perpetrator is currently detained and is in custody.
