Poland plans to install an electronic protection system along a 100-kilometer stretch of its border with Ukraine. It is intended to supplement the existing physical barriers.

This was reported by Polskie Radio with reference to Brigadier General of the Polish Border Guard, Violeta Gorzkowska.

According to her, the first stage involves equipping 69 km of the border in the area of responsibility of the Nadbuzhany Division with electronic means of protection. Another 43 km of the land section in the area of responsibility of the Bieszczady Division are planned to be equipped as part of the next project.

In addition, Poland intends to strengthen border security with Russia and Belarus. They plan to install additional observation towers with optoelectronic systems there.

The deployment of drone detection systems is also planned on the border with Belarus.

The European Union provided funding for relevant investments in both areas.

At the same time, Gorzkowska stated at a meeting of the parliamentary commission that due to the veto of Polish President Karol Nawrocki on the law on the use of funds from the SAFE program, the Border Guard Service was unable to carry out purchases worth PLN 3 billion. The money was intended to purchase, in particular, armored vehicles and machine guns.

It was previously reported that military exercises with the participation of Polish special operations forces, organized by the US Army, are underway in Germany. The American military, together with its allies, are practicing modern tactics for using drones, taking into account, in particular, Ukraine’s experience in the war against Russia.
