An evening in memory of Andriy Parubiy was held at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy

An evening in memory of Andriy Parubiy was held at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. The fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, honored the bright memory of the great Patriot of Ukraine.

“Forty days without Andriy. Today we gathered together in Mohylyanka to honor his memory. A patriot, a professional, a brother. A man without whom it is difficult to imagine the modern history of our state. A man who united,” Petro Poroshenko shared his emotions.

The Fifth President noted: Andriy Parubiy united Ukrainians in parliament, on the Maidan, and in all corners of our country.

“In these 40 days, an incredible amount has been done. All of us. Everyone who knew Andriy, who believed in him, who felt his shoulder. In record time, we signed a petition to award him the title of Hero of Ukraine. The Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution. Andriy once again united the parliament, as he once united the entire people. More than 60% of Ukrainians in the east and west, south and north demand honoring. And we will do it. We will name a street in the capital after him. The street on which Andriy stood on February 12, 2014, side by side with the Maidan self-defense. For democracy. For Ukraine,” Poroshenko emphasized.

“For each of us, getting to know him is a separate story. Maidan. Verkhovna Rada. Carpathians. Regional Council. But what everyone has in common is the feeling that a symbol of Ukraine was next to him. Young, strong, honest. When he was the commandant of Maidan, it was not a position, but trust. When he became the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, he understood security threats more deeply than many. When he chaired a session of the Verkhovna Rada, he fought not for the rules of procedure, but for Ukraine. And he was unwavering,” recalls the fifth President.

“Andriy is the Army. This is the Language. This is the Faith. The Law on the Ukrainian Language was his law. He lived by it. He defended it. As well as the church. As well as our independence. When I asked about supporting the Tomos, his answer was short and firm: “Don’t even worry. There will be a majority. And no one will stop us,” Poroshenko said about the historical events of those times.

“That’s exactly what Andriy was. In 2019, it was a source of pride for me, for our entire team, that he entered the top three of “European Solidarity”. Because it was not politics – it was a vision. Andriy’s death is not an accident. This is a planned attack by Russia. This is an attempt to destroy a symbol, to weaken Ukraine,” Poroshenko notes.

“But we will not allow it. We will pick up the flag. We will not let what Andriy built with all his heart be broken. Andriy will forever be with us. In our hearts. In our actions. In our struggle,” the leader of Eurosolidarity emphasized.

As a reminder, the Security Service of Ukraine reported that the suspect in the murder of MP Andriy Parubiy is charged with high treason . According to the investigation, he acted on behalf of Russian special services and carried out their tasks for over a year.

It is worth noting that the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada supported the appeal to award Andriy Parubiy the title of Hero of Ukraine by 230 votes .
