An explosion occurred in a high-rise building in Kharkiv: two people died

An explosion occurred in a multi-story residential building in the Saltivskyi district of Kharkiv on the night of January 17. The incident killed 2 people and destroyed the floors between the floors.

A report of an emergency event was received by Kharkiv District Police Department No. 2 on January 17 at around 01:40.

The explosion destroyed the ceiling between the 5th and 6th floors of the building. The windows of the balcony and apartment were also broken.

At the scene, law enforcement officers discovered the bodies of two deceased people. A man born in 1999 and a woman born in 1991 died.

According to the preliminary conclusion of experts, a gas-air mixture exploded in the house.

Investigators entered information on this fact into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 270 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This is a violation of the requirements of fire or technogenic safety established by law.

Law enforcement officers are currently establishing all the circumstances of the tragedy.

It was previously reported that in the village of Novy Starodub, Petrivska hromada, Kirovohrad region, three people died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning , including two children born in 2010 and 2011. Another child and a woman were injured and hospitalized.
