In Moldova, near the border with Ukraine, an explosion site of an unknown object has been discovered. On the outskirts of the village of Krokmaz, burnt earth and fragments of metal and plastic were found. What exactly exploded is currently being investigated.
This is reported by Newsmaker with reference to the Moldovan border police.
The explosion occurred at night. At around 2:36 a.m., Moldovan border guards near the village of Tudora heard a sound similar to a rocket launch. Two minutes later, a powerful explosion was heard.
The Ukrainian side informed its Moldovan colleagues that at that time an air alert was in effect in the area due to the Russian attack on Ukraine.
At the same time, Moldovan border guards did not record any violation of the country’s airspace. The patrol in Tudor immediately checked the area, but during the first inspection, they found neither suspicious objects nor traces of fire.
Later, a local resident contacted law enforcement, reporting a loud explosion. After that, the search continued in another part of the area.
At around 7:10 a.m. on the outskirts of Krokmaz, approximately 6 km from the state border with Ukraine, law enforcement officers found a burned area of land. There were pieces of metal and plastic lying nearby.
The border police said that specialized units were sent to the scene.
“Specialized units have been sent to the scene, which will take all necessary measures and establish the circumstances of the incident,” law enforcement officials said.
It is currently unknown what exactly caused the explosion. Experts must determine the origin of the found debris and all the circumstances of the incident.
The border police have urged people not to approach aircraft debris, ammunition or other unknown objects. In the event of drone sounds or explosions, citizens are advised to stay in a safe place and follow official government announcements.
As a reminder, on August 30, an aircraft violated Moldovan airspace from the Ukrainian side . The object crossed the border in the Dniester region and returned to Ukraine 10 minutes later.
As reported, during Russia’s massive air attack on Ukraine on the night of August 27 , at least five drones violated Moldovan airspace.
