An incident with weapons occurred near a hotel in the center of Chernihiv: what is known

An incident involving the use of a weapon occurred in Chernihiv near the Hradetskyi Hotel. According to the results of the inspection, the police seized a starting pistol from the man, there were no injuries.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police.

After the incident, information about shooting at people and the presence of 3 wounded people began to spread in local public forums. In particular, there were reports of a possible threat to children.

Law enforcement officers checked this data and stated that it was not true.

“It is preliminary known that a starting pistol was seized from a man on the street. Information about shooting at children is not confirmed. There are no injuries,” the police reported.

It is worth adding that, according to local media, the incident occurred near the “Hradetsky” hotel complex, located in the city center.

Investigative and operational teams are currently working at the scene. The police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the motives of the man’s actions for further legal assessment.

As is known, an unknown person opened fire on people in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv . Subsequently, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported that a child was injured as a result of the shooting in the capital, and is currently hospitalized.

Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that an attacker who opened fire on civilians and took hostages in Kyiv had been eliminated . According to him, 6 people died as a result of the incident, and 9 more were hospitalized with injuries.

As of the morning of April 19, 8 people are in the capital’s hospitals who were injured as a result of the shooting in the Holosiivskyi district on April 18.
