An invader suspected of killing five soldiers was detained in the Kharkiv region

A Russian soldier was detained in the Kharkiv region, who, according to investigators, shot five Ukrainian defenders. Law enforcement officers found the suspect within 24 hours of the murder.

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the tragedy occurred on October 13. A Russian soldier opened fire on five Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters who were in a residential building. All of them died from their wounds.

The SBU, National Police, and National Guard jointly located and detained the suspect within 24 hours of the crime.

He turned out to be a 36-year-old Russian from St. Petersburg, who serves in the 1009th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian Army. The man already had a criminal record in Russia.

Law enforcement officers are currently investigating all the circumstances of the murder. Further investigation will be conducted by SBU investigators under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv District Prosecutor’s Office.
