Angelina Jolie revealed details of her visit to Ukraine

American actress Angelina Jolie, during her visit to Ukraine, visited Kharkiv, where she visited dance and art studios, and also met with the wives of Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Carpathians and honored the memory of the deceased leader of the “Platsdarm” search group, Alexei Yukov.

She wrote about this on her Instagram page.

“As children in Ukraine return to school amid increasing attacks on civilians and infrastructure, I visited some of the teachers, coaches, and neighbors who are ensuring they can learn in a safe environment,” the actress writes.

Jolie noted that Kharkiv is located near the Russian border and is under attack almost daily, which is why classrooms were set up in metro stations.

“Other schools operate entirely underground: children there learn to read in rooms located three floors deep,” she wrote.

Jolie said that she met students from the Caramel Studio dance studio, who train in an underground training hall in the Pivnichna Saltivka district of Kharkiv, and also saw children with learning disabilities working out at the Aza Nizi Maza art studio.

In the Carpathians, Jolie visited a rehabilitation camp run by the public organization Gen.Ukrainian, where she spoke with women who are raising children on their own and waiting for their husbands to be released from Russian captivity.

The actress’s son, Knox, held Muay Thai classes for children there.

Jolie also paid tribute to the family of the deceased head of the “Platsdarm” search group, Alexei Yukov.

“These local organizations, despite limited resources, have found ways to continue their activities in extremely difficult circumstances,” Jolie noted.

Angelina Jolie visited Ukraine twice after the start of the full-scale war:

• April 30, 2022 – Lviv. Jolie arrived on a humanitarian mission, met with internally displaced persons and volunteers at the train station, visited children affected by a missile strike on the train station in Kramatorsk, and also spoke with medics.
• November 2025 – Kherson region. The actress visited Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, visited medical institutions, including a children’s hospital and a maternity hospital, met with doctors, volunteers, and local residents. She also visited underground hospitals and schools.

As a reminder, it was previously reported that American actress and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie arrived in Ukraine on an unannounced visit.
