On Thursday, July 2, the second round match of Wimbledon 2026 will take place between Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (No. 13 WTA) and “neutral” tennis player Anna Blinkova (No. 114 WTA).
The match is expected to start no earlier than 15:15-15:30 Kyiv time.
The “neutral” status means that Anna Blinkova is Russian and competes as a neutral athlete without a flag or other national symbols.
In official singles, these tennis players met only once – in March 2025 at the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami, where Marta Kostyuk won with a score of 6:2, 6:1.
In the previous round of Wimbledon 2026, Anna Blinkova defeated another Ukrainian tennis player, Yulia Starodubtseva, and Marta Kostyuk beat Argentine Nadezhda Podoroska (6:1, 6:2).
In the match against the Russian, Marta Kostyuk is considered the favorite due to her significantly higher rating, as well as a successful season, which is the best of her career.
The winner of this pair will face the winner of the match between Emma Navarro and Oksana Selekhmeteva in the third round.
