Anniversary 20th package: the European Union announced new anti-Russian sanctions

On April 22, a meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper) will be held, the agenda of which will include the adoption of amendments to the EU’s long-term budget for 2021-2027, which will enable Ukraine to receive a €90 billion loan, and the adoption without discussion of the next 20th package of EU sanctions against Russia.

As the publication notes, on April 22, at a meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper), the European Union will take a decisive step towards providing Ukraine with a loan of $90 billion – this is the last technical element necessary to launch the financing mechanism for Ukraine.
In addition, the Committee meeting was asked to adopt without discussion the next 20th package of EU sanctions against Russia, which is taking place against the backdrop of Hungary and Slovakia’s long-standing blocking of the European Union’s approval of both the provision of a $90 billion loan for Ukraine and the 20th package of EU sanctions against Russia.
It was previously reported that the EU Council imposed sanctions against two organizations involved in Russian hybrid operations . According to the EU, the resource disseminates Russian propaganda aimed at a European audience and questions the legitimacy of the European Union institutions.
As a reminder, the European Union and Hungary continue negotiations on unblocking financing for Ukraine , which amounts to 90 billion euros. The Hungarian side links its decision to the resumption of Russian oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline.
