The Russian military purposefully struck with FPV drones civilians who were trying to independently escape from the occupied part of the Sumy region.
This was reported by the 14th Army Corps.
This happened on Tuesday, January 27, near the previously captured village of Grabovske.
Hostile FPV drone operators attacked two people who were trying to evacuate. They first hit a woman, who died instantly from her injuries, and then a second hit a man who was standing next to the body of the deceased.
The case of the killing of civilians was recorded by means of objective control of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
“The video shows the absence of any military facilities or individuals in the affected area, as well as the clear civilian identification of the victims (lack of military uniforms, slow movement, use of sleds for transportation),” the 14th Corps explained.
As noted, the Russians knowingly committed another war crime against the civilian population, violating international law, in particular the articles of the Rome Statute and Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions.
The military stressed that this case is not an isolated one, as the occupiers systematically use FPV drones and other means of destruction to strike civilians. As noted, such actions are part of Russian tactics in the Sumy direction in 2025-2026.
“The commission of such actions has no military justification and is part of a policy of intimidation, forced detention of the civilian population in the occupied territories, and the creation of a humanitarian catastrophe,” the report says.
It was previously reported that Russian soldiers broke through the border in Sumy region and took out civilian residents of the village of Grabovske, Krasnopil community.
Earlier, Russia provided Ukraine with a list of residents of the village of Grabovske in Sumy Oblast who were taken away by Russian military personnel, and also reported where and in what conditions they are being held.
