Arctic air is approaching Ukraine: weather forecasters have warned of severe frosts

Frosty weather will persist in Ukraine from January 17 to 22, caused by Arctic air and a powerful anticyclone from the northeast. At night, the air temperature in some regions will drop to -25 degrees Celsius, and almost no precipitation is expected.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.

During January 17–19, the influence of Arctic air and anticyclone will persist in Ukraine. Atmospheric pressure will increase, clearings will contribute to additional cooling of the air. The wind is mainly northeast, which will increase the feeling of cold. No precipitation is forecast, only in Crimea and the Sea of Azov, light snow is possible in places.

On the night of January 17, the air temperature will be from 16 to 18 degrees below zero, during the day from 14 to 12 degrees below zero. Partly cloudy weather without precipitation is expected. Wind at night 3–8 meters per second, during the day 5–10 meters per second.

On the night of January 18, the temperature will drop to 17–19 degrees below zero, and during the day it is forecast to be 12–10 degrees below zero. Cloudiness is variable, precipitation is not expected. Wind speed at night will be 3–8 meters per second, during the day — 5–10 meters per second.

On the night of January 19, the air temperature will reach 19–21 degrees below zero, during the day — 12–10 degrees below zero. Partly cloudy weather will remain without precipitation. Wind at night 3–5 meters per second, during the day 3–8 meters per second.

On January 20 , the forecast is 16–18 degrees below zero at night, 12–10 degrees below zero during the day. The weather will be cloudy, without precipitation. Wind at night 3–5 meters per second, during the day 3–8 meters per second.

On the night of January 21, the temperature will be 15–17 degrees below zero, and during the day – 11–9 degrees below zero. Cloudy weather with clearings is expected, without precipitation. Wind 3–5 meters per second.

A similar weather situation will persist on January 22. At night, the forecast is 15–17 degrees below zero, and during the day — 11–9 degrees below zero. Cloudy with clearings, no precipitation is expected, wind 3–5 meters per second.

The day before, weather forecaster Natalka Didenko warned that frosty weather in Ukraine would persist until the end of January .
