Armenia and Azerbaijan Sign Peace Agreement at White House

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an agreement at the White House to normalize relations between the countries after 35 years of conflict.

This is known from the White House broadcast.

The U.S.-brokered agreement envisages the creation of a transport corridor linking Azerbaijan with its exclave, the Republic of Nakhchivan, a breakaway territory of Armenia. The route, dubbed the “Trump Path for International Peace and Prosperity,” would be laid out in accordance with Armenian law, with the U.S. subleasing the land to a consortium to build and manage the infrastructure.

The sides also agreed to ask the OSCE to disband the Minsk Group, which has spent more than 30 years trying to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict without making progress. In addition, US President Donald Trump announced separate agreements with Armenia and Azerbaijan on cooperation in energy, trade and technology, calling Pashinyan and Aliyev “excellent leaders” and expressing confidence in their ability to improve relations.

Let us recall that, against the backdrop of worsening relations with Azerbaijan, Russia began to expand its military presence in Armenia.

As reported, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev publicly accepted Ukrainian military chevrons as a gift and thanked the Ukrainian Armed Forces for their fight . His words of support for Ukraine’s actions immediately caused a wave of indignation among Russian propagandists.

By the way, the speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, stated that the country’s authorities should seriously consider the issue of suspending the broadcasting of Russian TV channels on the territory of Armenia.
