Armenia proposes banning broadcasting of Russian channels
The Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, stated that the country’s authorities should seriously consider the issue of suspending the broadcasting of Russian TV channels in Armenia.
ARMENPRESS News reports this.
According to him, certain Russian television programs harm Armenian-Russian relations and can be used to interfere in Armenia’s internal affairs. In particular, Simonyan suggested that this could happen with funding from pro-Kremlin businessman Samvel Karapetyan.
Let us recall that Samvel Karapetyan is the owner of the Gazprom-linked Tashir Holding, which includes the Electric Networks of Armenia company and is considered one of the sponsors of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Earlier, the Main Intelligence Directorate reported that Russia is conducting an information operation aimed at discrediting Ukraine and worsening Ukrainian-Armenian and Ukrainian-Azerbaijani relations.
It should be noted that Armenia has completely frozen its participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
