In the Kharkiv region, law enforcement officers exposed and detained three army corps officials suspected of extorting money from servicemen.
This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office .
According to the investigation, the suspicion was reported to the head of logistics – the deputy corps commander, the head of the headquarters logistics department, and the officer of the organizational and planning logistics department.
Investigators found that the officials demanded monetary rewards from their subordinates. In return, they promised to enter the military personnel’s data into reports as performing combat missions, which gave them the right to receive additional financial support.
According to the investigation, the scheme was organized in December 2025 by the head of logistics, the deputy commander of the corps. He later involved two subordinates in the illegal activity.
In February 2026, the head of the logistics department, on his instructions, demanded that a subordinate officer systematically transfer funds for the inclusion of him and other servicemen in reports for the payment of so-called “combat” personnel.
Law enforcement officials note that refusing such payments could have negatively affected military service.
In particular, on March 23, 2026, one of the defendants received 40 thousand hryvnias for including servicemen in reports for the payment of additional remuneration for February. Later, he demanded another 36 thousand hryvnias for March, and also instructed to collect 154 thousand hryvnias from other servicemen.
In total, we are talking about 190 thousand hryvnias, which the suspects received on April 29 in their office.
“On May 28, the officials were detained after receiving another 44 thousand hryvnias of illegal gain. The total amount of money that the investigation is currently incriminating is 274 thousand hryvnias,” the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
During searches of the suspects’ residences, cars, and the territory of the military corps, documentation on the accrual and payment of additional remuneration, draft records, computer equipment, mobile phones, tablets, as well as 343 thousand hryvnias, 9.9 thousand US dollars, and 80 euros were seized.
The three defendants are charged with receiving unlawful benefit. The court chose for them a preventive measure in the form of detention with the alternative of posting bail.
It was previously reported that the Security Service of Ukraine detained the mayor of one of the settlements in the Odessa region, who demanded a bribe during the construction of a new power plant in the region.
Also in Transcarpathia, the head of the VLK was detained, from whom almost 11 million hryvnias in cash was seized during a search.
