Co-chair of the European Solidarity faction, Artur Gerasimov, stated that the authorities are deliberately destroying local self-government in South Ukraine in order to introduce a military-civilian administration there.

This was reported by the press center of “European Solidarity”.

The deputy made the relevant statement during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada.

“Today in Transcarpathia, at the Congress of local and regional authorities, there will be a lot of talk about unity. But the authorities show real unity in a completely different way. Energoatom, together with the Office of the President and together with the regional administration of the Mykolaiv region, now want to create a military-civilian administration in Yuzhnoukrainska in order to fully gain control over the budget of this city,” Gerasimov said.

He recalled that the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant is located in the city.

According to the deputy, they may use the fact that the city council has not been working for more than three months as a pretext for such actions.

“The scheme is simple. They want to use as an excuse the fact that the city council has not been working for more than three months – thanks to direct calls from the Servant of the People party. They are forcing representatives of the Servant of the People not to attend sessions,” he noted.

Gerasimov also stated about pressure on nuclear power plant employees who are city council members.

“Direct calls from Energoatom and the President’s Office to the plant’s employees who are deputies, with a strict demand not to go to the sessions, because they will be fired from their jobs. What should a person do now?” the deputy emphasized.

He added that deputies of the Pivdennoukrainsk city council appealed to the president with a request to intervene in the situation.
